Stroll for Your Soul offers 21 days of accompaniment through a brief email delivered early each morning to your inbox. Each email will offer a practice, or a reflection, or a poem, or a photograph giving direction and encouragement to your time spent walking or jogging or biking or even skate boarding.
It takes 21 days to create a habit. Use these daily emails as motivation to get outside. They will help you notice the green and growing glories of Spring. If you are a regular walker, they offer practice at paying attention and being in the present moment. Weave silence and mindful reflection into whatever minutes you have to give to yourself. Deepen your awareness of seeing the Divine in the ordinary and practice being in the present moment with these daily emails.
If you are a 2020 Personal or Group Subscriber or Participant, this program is included in your package. You are on the list and can expect your Welcome Email on May 6. Group Leaders will receive an email with instructions on signing up participants.

GROUPS USE STROLL IN SO MANY WAYS.
- Some groups meet at the beginning and at the end of the 21 days to check in on what people are noticing, identifying and valuing.
- Some groups schedule a time, once a week to Stroll together. Whoever comes, comes.
- Some groups never meet as a local group but stroll as individuals in the daily company of nearly 500 other folk from across the world. Yes, world!
- Some sign up a committee or youth group as a shared spiritual practice.
- Some groups offer Stroll to folk in local retirement and nursing homes.
- Some groups offer Stroll to groups with young parents, university or college students.
- Some groups invite other denominations in the community to sign up too and host a few ecumenical strolls together.

2020 THEME: PATTERNS
Patterns …. Isn’t that a great theme for our 2020 Stroll for Your Soul theme. I am delighted to share the creation of Stroll with Caroline Bindon of Kereru Publishing in New Zealand. Caroline and I will explore the unique spirituality of our landscapes from very different parts of the world, and we look for patterns in song, scripture and our everyday experiences. Caroline brings particular attention to experiential prayer. Come Stroll with us!

Day 1 Pilgrims Marking the Route
WAYMARKS (ˈweɪˌmɑːk ) Definitions: noun – a symbol or signpost marking the route of a journey.
Definition of waymark: an object serving as a guide to someone traveling; A sign or symbol marked in a prominent position in an off-road location to show the track of a footpath or route; fingerpost; guidepost; milestone.
Let’s consider ourselves pilgrims for the next 21 days. Most of us will not travel to faraway places; we will be pilgrims in our own backyard.
We know the route. Perhaps we’ve strolled this same space for years. The ground beneath our feet is familiar. We could walk it with our eyes closed. We nod to the same tree each morning. We walk past the same landmarks. We turn right, then left and seldom vary the route. And even if we do, this street is familiar too. This green space is sprouting the same flowers as last spring. This old fence we admire is a bit more rickety but still holding its post. The brook is meandering in much the same fashion as years past.
We know the way. We’ve seen the sights. And we can still be pilgrims. Ours is a journey made with the desire to encounter the Sacred
We are pilgrims of the heart. We stroll with intention. We will pause each morning and ready ourselves. We open to seeing in a new way. We might be surprised. The familiar path might yield a wild beauty we never noticed. In the twinkling of an eye something might appear and disappear, but for a moment we see. There are thoughts to be pondered. There are practices to explore.
There are WayMarks to show us the way.
Pause for a moment on your doorstep. Close your eyes. Be aware of your breathing. You might want to begin with an exaggerated breath. Inhale deeply for three seconds, hold your breath for 2 seconds, and now exhale deeply for four seconds.
Now just notice your breath entering your body through your nose. Be aware of the sensation of breathing. Notice how you breath in cool air and exhale warmed air. Enjoy a few conscious breaths and then begin your Stroll.
As you stroll, return to your breath. Let your breath be your WayMark today. Focussing on breathing helps us be in the present moment. Breathing is a WayMark we carry with us!
