Self-Guided Retreat for Lent Published 2021
“Let us make an expansive Lent, a joyful Lent, a simple Lent, a generous Lent, a glorious Lent
and when “the morning stars sing together” (Job 38:7)
we rise together, remade and renewed and part of a divine whole.”
– from the Lent retreat written by Janice MacLean.
This “Stardust” retreat invites you to remember we are made of stardust and glory, stardust and death, stardust and promise. We set an “altar-table” where we settle in and reflect on the generosity and wildness of the Divine and consider our call and intention this Lent.
The retreat offers a suggestion for Settling, a Reflection, Questions for journalling, three spiritual practices and a blessing.
Once we’ve worked with our intention for Lent, my friend, Nigel Weaver, is the author of the Pilgrim Handbook. He invites us into the territory of soul movements. He chooses a biblical friend, (some are the heroes of his boyhood,) and sees where their story is inviting him this Lent. Nigel is a pilgrim guide. He will help us touch the depths of our pilgrim soul.
- You receive two downloadable PDF files with a Lent Retreat and Pilgrim Handbook. You will find them in the confirmation email you receive when payment is confirmed. Please check your “junk” or “promotional” folders. Contact Janice by email if you experience any difficulties.
PLEASE NOTE: If you were a paid Prayer Bench subscriber in 2020, you received this Retreat and Pilgrim Handbook as part of the monthly email retreat series.
Janice Maclean is host of the Prayer Bench. Nigel Weaver is a friend who generously share his artistry of words and his depth of thought and story to the Prayer Bench whenever I ask. Thank you.
