Play as Spiritual Practice
An Individual Spiritual Study for Personal Retreats and/or Continuing Education / Study Leave

~ Available March 1, 2015 | Registration $49

“I (Wisdom) was by God’s side, a master crafter, delighting God day by day, ever at play in God’s Presence, at play everywhere in the world.” (Proverbs 8).

Janice MacLean will offer this individual spiritual study focusing on the question: Is play the elemental and essential spiritual practice?

As adults, we may be especially aware of the enemies of play. In our play as children we see the origins that nurture our spirituality as adults.

Using our memory, reflections, icons, art and poetry, we will explore the qualities of a play-full life and seek ways to deepen the practice of play in our work and lives.

You will receive:

  • downloadable file(s) with materials for ten blocks of study and reflection;

The study material is offered by videos, audio podcasts, and written word. There will be time to reflect on the material through:

  • the use of evocative questions for meditation or journalling,
  • spiritual practices, ancient and new,
  • silence & meditation
  • links to related You Tube videos or  articles.

This package of material offers a variety of approaches to appeal to diverse learning styles and prayer personalities.

You may wish to supplement this study with the book, The Play-Full Life: Slowing Down and Seeking Peace by Jaco Hamman. (not included)

You can order this resource material in the Prayer Bench Shop.
