LENT SOUL SONG VISUAL PRAYER
Psalm 32
Speaking the Truth of the Heart.

“How blessed are those
who live before their God
without the weight of guilt …
I spoke ….
Uncovering it all.” Ps. 32
Read Psalm 32
  • What parts of this Psalm speak to you? Inspire, resonate or call out to you?
  • What feelings, longings, or hopes are evoked in you as you pray this Psalm?
  • Sin, in the Psalms, is a term used to describe a condition of the heart which results in acts and deeds called sins. Here is one  “meaning” of sin: “a failure to reach the purpose for which we are born.” (Lynn Baumann)  As you prayed the Psalm how would you doodle or draw the Psalmists Soul Song? What colours would you use?
  • Whose Psalm is this? Can you imagine who might have such a yearning to speak the truth, letting nothing remain hidden? Will you pray the Psalm on their behalf?

Prayer for entering into the week

Tendering One,
You know our heart
In its origin,
Soft and whole.

Where there is heart-hardening
We speak of it.
Yearning a graceful breaking open,
Chunks falling away
Soft heart uncovered.

Where there is heart-breaking
We speak of it.
Desiring a graceful binding up
Pieces mending over
Whole heartedly.   (Janice MacLean)
